Life is Mental Coaching Certification Curriculum |
Week 1 * Introduction to cognitive behavioral principles. * Statistics of weight loss and ineffective weight loss strategies. * Coaches will learn to identify parameters of Life is Mental program and how to evaluate clients for program suitability. * Set client expectations and create self-fulfilling prophecy. * Coaches are encouraged to identify 2-5 clients for program administration during the certification training. Marketing ideas for attracting client participation will be discussed. Week 2 * Learn to assist clients in identifying realistic weight loss goals. * Introduce use of BMI, Weight, Measurement and Fat Pants as tracking measures throughout program. * Establish schedule for utilizing tracking measure. * Coaches will be coached to reinforce client program expectation. Week 3 * Coaches will learn why Thinking Thin is an effective cognitive strategy. * Learn to identify whether clients are Committed or Interested in weight loss and how to help them develop commitment to the Life is Mental program. * Motivation. Why it is important to identify motivation for weight loss and how to help clients identify their motivators. * Use of reasons for weight loss. Coaches will learn how to help clients establish clear reasons for weight loss to be used throughout program participation. * Introduce daily food journal and educate on the importance of a weight loss journal as a cognitive behavioral strategy for weight release maintenance. Week 4 * Positivity. Coaches will be educated on the basics of Choice Theory to understand the rationale of positivity as a cognitive skill. Positivity journaling will be taught as one of the techniques to increase positivity and healthier choices. * Exercise is not a dirty word. Coaches will learn to use spontaneous exercise as a physical activity motivator. Coaches will learn how to use spontaneous exercise to increase their physical activity for weight release. * Understanding the use of rewards. A reward system for success will be taught for proper administration. Coaches will learn how to assist clients in establishing appropriate rewards as well as effective reward implementation. Week 5 * Brain - Body Connection. Coaches will learn the basic premise of the mind body connection. This education will assist the coaches understanding of the connection between client thoughts and physical symptoms of hunger reported. * Conscious eating. This behavior skill will introduce coaches to a natural way to assist clients in cutting calories and eliminating binging. * Identify and distinguish cravings. Participants will learn where cravings originate, how to eliminate cravings and how to create healthy food cravings. Multiple techniques are taught for coach's use. |
Week 6 * Coaches will learn how to teach clients to reprogram their minds to Think Thin using multiple cognitive strategies. * Reticular Activating System. Participants will learn how this part of the human brain functions as well as how it can be programmed for goal achievement. * Written goals. Learn how to teach your clients to write goals in a format that allows their brain to naturally act on these goals. Techniques for utilizing written goals will be described for coaching use. * Visional Goals. Vision boarding will be taught as a tool for visual goal setting and achievement. Coaches will learn how to instruct the creation of a vision and ongoing management. Week 7 * Visualization. Coaches will learn the structure and benefits of visualization and relaxation techniques. * Physical responses to relaxation will be detailed including education on the 'fight or flight' response. * Guided visual imagery will be taught to participants for personal self care. * Coaches will learn how to effectively teach clients how to self administer and master the use of this cognitive skill for weight loss. * Techniques for creating a food aversion and mood stabilizer will be taught. Instructions for use will be covered during this training. Week 8 * Practical Strategies for weight loss and weight management. Specific practical strategies for weight loss and weight management will be covered. Coaches will learn how to incorporate prior cognitive behavioral training into the use of these practical techniques. * Challenges like eating at restaurants and fast food venues will be identified with specific techniques for handling these challenges appropriately. * Coaches will learn the importance of mental flexibility during the weight release experience. This knowledge educates participants on how to teach mental flexibility and use it themselves as a strategy for managing challenging clients. Week 9 * Healthy Eating. Coaches will learn several practical cognitive behavioral strategies for portion control when eating in or out. Common food and eating beliefs will be identified as ineffective for weight release. Coaches will learn how to assist clients to identify ineffective thoughts for better cognitive management for weight release. Previous cognitive behavioral training will be taught as a reinforcement to retraining ineffective thinking out of habitual use. Week 10 * Reaching and Maintaining Goal Weight. Coaches will learn to assist clients in understanding the plateau experience and move through it without stress. * Assertiveness training will be taught as a boundary setting technique for clients that have outside pressures to eat inappropriately. This training will also be taught to coaches as a professional technique for client management. * Weight Release Masterminding. Coaches will learn how to create their own Life is Mental maintenance program that includes a mastermind component. * Wellness living will be covered to help coaches live a balanced work/life experience and teach clients to do the same both by role modeling and education. * Participants will learn how to evaluate whether clients are taking 100% of their life and health choices as they complete the Life is Mental Training. Coaches will understand how to evaluate this and teach clients to begin being excited about taking 100% responsible. * Recommended reading lists will be provided to coaches for professional education and as a client recommended reading list. * Various marketing ideas will be identified for coaches to utilize to create a referral funnel that feeds the Life is Mental program. * Strategic alliances will be discussed to educate participants on the benefit of identifying appropriate strategic alliances for business development. * Self care. This important topic will be discussed to reinforce the need for the coach to have a coach and walk their talk and enjoy a happy prosperous life. |
